You Judge for your self He is over generalizing that All University students are subjected to student debt. Stossel has to look at The importance of a college education by an industry to industry basis. No Job in the USA is Stable wheather it is with a Vocation, Grad school , College and University Education.

” 4. ” Your kidding right? You made me lol.
Well he is right, but white collar job seekers still need to go to college. I will say this though. Co-op, co-op, co-op. Best way that I know of to start getting experience at a white collar job.

@herrsexyhosen Well then will any US citizen sneak to China or india illegaly and take jobs from them
@LubricatedBeat you better go gradschool kid
I was in the very bottom of my highschool class, when to community college and worked my ass off to get into a good univerisity, graduated in four years and then joined the military. No debt, and now have marketable skills. This 20/20 segment has a very good point about the dangers of college, but hard work will trump those pitfalls.
I’m going to tradeschool. Would anyone like to join me?
The disappointment comes when you have a degree and some guy who passed high school, does the same thing you do and sometimes even better.
The Real World is the best education. College is a waste of time.
School and Collage isn´t a garantee that you will be sucessfull or better educated, for example. In 2005 in the 9th grade at school I was very bad in english, my english was almost the same since I started learning english in the 4th grade. What really made me improve my english was when I started visiting youtube and internet forums. The same with my interest in history, it was games and internet that made aware of many historical events.
I am going to business school and majoring in accounting. When I get my designation (CPA/CMA) I know that I’ll easily be making over $100,000/year within five years. It depends on what you study. Avoid the easy arts degrees and non applied sciences such as Biology and Chemistry. If you enjoy science, then do an engineering degree in biology/chemistry/computers etc. Employers want real skills, what real skills do you learn from feminism classes or ancient Chinese history…? The answer is none!
The olny reason im even considering going with what my parents said is because they havent been wrong yet and i dont know if id be able to support my girlfriend and I for four years, help her pay for her college edu, and hopefully getting married along the way, only starting with $8,000 i have saved up and a high school education. Any advice, please, write me back A.S.A.P
I am a 17 year old kid about to graduate high school. I currently have no clue what im going to do. On the other hand i have my parentstelling me i MUST go to college or ill end up being a bum.
any job involving intelligence has been outsourced to china and india where they actually have intelligent people.
Right. Because the sole reason to go to college is to make money.
@diznab900
Stossel isnt saying that. College obviously isnt for everyone. That’s why the title is called “Is College Worth It?” not “College Isn’t Worth It” Open ended question that you have to decide for yourself. For someone wanting to be a doctor, engineer, lawyer, nurse, pharmacist, etc yes college is worth it if you’re smart and hard working enough.
College is more of a business decision more than anything. Willing to take on the time and debt it takes to get through it all?
@ivaltierrez You still have a chance of getting the shit ende of the stick in those fields. Nah, I think that he got it right when he shown that only about half the people that went to college were happy with there degree. It seems to me that it’s a fair estimate to say that about half of the people that go to college finds that their degree leads to success.
I know I have yet to be enrolled in college but it seems to me that you shouldn’t really go to college if you don’t have a serious passion for the field you’re trying to go in. If you’re just trying to get that degree in hopes that it’ll be your ticket to a high paying job, you’ll be quite disappointed.
Not everyone needs to go to a 4 year college and not every 4 year college graduate is going to be successful. We need to start at the high school level teaching children that don’t plan to go to university a vocational skill. As well, we must emphasize financial education. With a quality skill and the ability to take the money you earn and invest we will have more successful people.
@Monarch3436 Law school, seriously? The last thing we need is more lawyers. In fact I know many lawyers that have a hard time getting work because we have so many. Pick a degree in engineering and stay away from the liberal arts and ethnic studies courses. That’s the surest bet to becoming employed after college.
Why do you think people from Asian countries are advancing. They or their parents were smart enough to steer them into fields such as computers and medicine.
