Symptoms and Signs of Autism, Causes for Autism

This is an education on the autism symptoms in attention deficit children. It is important to know because early intervention by spotting the common symptoms will mean the difference between normalcy in life and a stunted social existence. No one can truly explain fully the roots of autism nor is there enough literature to properly diagnose and truly define the ailment.

Autism is quite a mystery. Every person who is diagnosed with the condition manifests different symptoms. There are various symptoms and each person diagnosed with the condition displays autism in his own unique way. It is rare to find all the symptoms or even most of the symptoms of autism in one single person. Generally speaking, an autistic has three problem areas: social skills, communication skills, and the manifestation of repetitive and restricted patterns of behavior, interests, and activities.

Autism has a strong genetic basis, but autism cannot be single gene mutation. Environmental factors can also cause autism, but the studies are still in very early stages. Certain foods, infectious disease, heavy metals, solvents, diesel exhaust, PCBs, phthalates and phenols used in plastic products, pesticides, brominated flame retardants, alcohol, smoking, illicit drugs, vaccines, prenatal stress are also being studied and researched.

The most important signs of autism can show different difficulty grades, from mild forms to severe cases. Autistic children have problems in interacting with other children or persons due to a disease triggered impaired social interaction ability. Verbal and nonverbal communications skills are very limited and they most often try to express themselves by signs and pictures. These children have most commonly repetitive interests and activities and their actions and thoughts are narrow and obsessive.

All autism sufferers tend to mouth objects or rub surfaces and are extremely sensitive to light, sound, smell and touch. They are usually immune to pain and show little response to high painful stimuli. Autistic children do not react to loud noises but are highly irritated by some regular sounds like the one made by the vacuum cleaner. Physical contact is mostly overwhelming or over stimulating for them and they refuse cuddling, touching and kissing

Most of the doctors are convinced that the causes of autism are genetic and are located in the brain only, because many tests were performed on autistic persons, and their organisms are identical to the organisms of normal persons, so everything that has to do with this condition is in the brain.

The studies themselves are subject to controversy, however. The fact that not one of the studies showed 100% concordance in monozygotic twins suggests that there could be other factors at play in the cause of autism. Other familial studies have noted common characteristics – for instance, that autism is more common in families of physicists and engineers. This observation gave rise to the term ‘the geek syndrome’ to identify autism.

Question by campbells: Should i let my 6 mo get more vaccines.. Even though I heard people think it causes autism?
My 6 mo old got his third vaccines and this time his legs broke out around the area the shots were given. and it had a lump under each side.I also heard that some people think vaccines causes autism. I’m really scared to let him get his shots at 9mo because of what happened this time.

Answer by the_only_solorose
there is no proof that childhood vaccines cause autism. The local reactions he had (the redness and lumps) are common and they pass fairly quickly. But the diseases that he is being vaccinated against can KILL him. Seems to me the benefits FAR outweigh the risks of vaccination.

Doing a lot of research myself and reading many studies on genes, I agree that the term Autism is very broud. There is a great need for better assessments. We cannot change brain neurons and how each part of the brain peeks. Your description of PDD is right on. This is such a contraversial area that people have a hard time understanding. Being more specific is vital in getting treatment and therapies. Even though “how profound is my child” can be very misleading, the symptoms vary.

They break vaccine-injuries such as central nervous system side- effects into various categories to cover up the increased rate of vaccine induced diseases, for example “autism” – which is actually subacute
sclerosing panencephalitis – is now separated into ADHD, PDD, Aspergers,
Rhett’s syndrome, etc., in order to water down the epidemic increase and to cover up the ongoing vaccine-holocaust.

  • ABAisSCIENCE says:

Finally, Fragile X is autism defined and thus as we find genetic reasons soon there will be no “pure autistic kid” and merely better definition of many disorders that are serious. The rest not defined will be either foolishness or less mutation of a certain series.

  • ABAisSCIENCE says:

Madam, you are way out there. First off, the shot happens to fall at a time that regression or unconditioning (an error keep reading) is occurring. People are always learning and thus conditioning of loss of behavior happens (now stated correctly). MORE

I don’t have a Ph.D i’m just a mom. What is really going on here is all just common sense you can’t be that stupid are you? or are you just covering up for those responsible for this?

  • biscuitsnngravy says:

you’re doing your research in all the wrong places. the truth is in your face 1.vaccines 2.autism 3.look up the effects that mercury has on the human body 4.identical to the signs of autism. the brain which controls the functions of the human body. mercury impairs the development of the brain during the most crucial years of the human growth. and that’s why you will see problems throughout the body of an autistic person. Get it right!

Great questions sir, lady i do not agree with any one of your answers. In fact, i’ve never heard someone talk so much crap.

  • Adrenalyn says:

I agree with Phil great questions, great answers. That being said, I don’t feel right about the regresive (late on-set) diagnoses. I just don’t feel that is something genetic when this able child is able to do everything “normal” and then they forget and regress to a horrifying state. something more is going here…
but great video. I love watching

this is just an absolutely fantastic video. great questions, great responses and so informative. thank you so much for posting this. but with all that said, i still dont like labels! lol i do think that this shows that we really dont know whats going on.

Your son was either born with autism, or not, and vaccines will not cause him to develop the disease.

The rash and lumps go away, and cause no lasting harm or discomfort. The vaccines are not only necessary, but required for day care, and later for school. Besides, how would you feel if he caught German Measles or Mumps because you didn’t want him to have a little rash? Do it for him.

  • ChristinS says:

I would do research into the different vaccines individually. You can consent to certain ones and decline others. I for one refused the chicken pox vaccine. It has not been well researched for long term effects and getting chicken pox as an adult is far worse and harder on you than getting it as a kid. I think vaccinations are out of control and yes there have been studies that link certain vaccines containing thermerisol sp? to autism as well as mercury in the vaccines.

For more information on links to vaccines with Autism here are some links for you…

You can still get your child all the vaccines he or she needs without following the doctor’s schedule.

Regardless of thimerosal (which has been removed from most vaccines anyway), vaccines have other nasty additives and are just stressful for a child’s body in general.

Choose the vaccines that you feel are MOST important (Hep B, for instance, is a sexually transmitted disease; tiny infants don’t need it) and space them out. I wouldn’t let the doctor give my kids more than one at a time.

FYI, if you are concerned about thimerosal (I am, I don’t care what all the biased studies say. The NIH and CDC are heavily influenced by the drug companies) don’t ever give your kid a flu shot. They are the one remaining vaccine that is loaded with thimerosal. They recommend it for immune deficient individals; the ones that precisely should NOT be injected with mercury laden thimerosal.

  • t a says:

Don’t kid yourself, vaccines are dangerous and your child has had a reaction to a vaccine. That means he has a sensitivity or allergy to the ingredients. The more vaccinations he gets the more likely he is of succumbing to autism or a number of other vaccine injuries.
I advise against the six month vaccinations based on research I have done after watching my son regress into autism after his 15 month shots.
I wish somebody would have warned me as I am warning you.
Please do yourself a favor and study up so you can make an informed decision. The government has screwed this issue up thoroughly and is desperately looking for an out without taking blame. You can’t trust them on this issue.

I think your concerns are being flippantly discounted. Let me tell you, the science linking vaccines and autism is out there; it just hasn’t been widely accepted as reliable to date. As a mom whose son developed Autism at 17 months (he seemed fine), I wonder what has happened to my son. Parents tell stories of regression shortly after vaccines (some dramatic and immediate) and I wonder if we are doing the right thing by injecting our newborns (with undeveloped nervous systems and digestive systems) with chemicals and viruses (dead or alive). You have the choice of waiting until your child is older. You have until they enter kindergarten to get any required vaccines if that is your concern. If you think about it, your son has a greater chance of developing Autism before the age of 3 (1 in 100 BOYS) than he is contracting polio, diptheria, HepB, tetanus, etc. I just say be smart about it, that’s all. Take a look at the work of Dan Olmstead or David Kirby; two journalists who had no vendetta or no grief of losing a child with Autism. They just saw a story and reported it. I wish you luck in your decision. It is not an easy one. FYI: the man who first linked stomach ulcers to bacteria was almost run out of his profession. It took 20 years for his theory to be proven, and now it is accepted as medical fact. Autism research is in its infancy. I hate to think our aggressive vaccine policy might have had unintended consequences, but it wouldn’t be the first time something like this has happened.

  • larry L says:

Wait until he is three years old to get his last shots. There is no chance of developing autism after about 27 months.

In some cases of particularly frail children, the trauma of getting a shot is, in itself, strong enough to cause autism. Can you imagine being a nervous toddler getting all sorts of smiles and reassurances from the nurse that “this won’t hurt at all!” Then get really STUNG. Somebody on Yahoo Answers reported that this is what happened to his child, and the child IMMEDIATELY collapsed into full-blown autism!

  • Vaccine skeptic says:

Be weary of people telling you there’s no research supporting the cause of autism coming from the vaccines. Do your own research. Here is one research that refutes a prior research on which many doctors rely on to misinform parents that there’s no link between the vaccines and autism. You can find it in the Journal of Child Neurology:
Blood Levels of Mercury Are Related to Diagnosis of Autism: A Reanalysis of an Important Data Set
    M. Catherine DeSoto, PhD
Department of Psychology, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa, cathy.desoto@uni.edu

    Robert T. Hitlan, PhD

Department of Psychology, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa

The question of what is leading to the apparent increase in autism is of great importance. Like the link between aspirin and heart attack, even a small effect can have major health implications. If there is any link between autism and mercury, it is absolutely crucial that the first reports of the question are not falsely stating that no link occurs. We have reanalyzed the data set originally reported by Ip et al. in 2004 and have found that the original p value was in error and that a significant relation does exist between the blood levels of mercury and diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. Moreover, the hair sample analysis results offer some support for the idea that persons with autism may be less efficient and more variable at eliminating mercury from the blood.

If I could do it all over again I would not give my children the MMR. They both got very sick after the shots–monthly ear infections, arms flapping, not being able to go to sleep at night, etc. Some like to say it’s genetics, but they can’t tell me why no one in either my wife’s or my family ever had autism or any neurological problems. When I was growing up everyone was expected to get measles, chicken pox. We all got it, developed the immunity, and went on to healthier lives. The rate of deaths from measles is not greater than the rates death from adverse reaction to vaccines. Pharmaceutical companies simply want to keep pushing full eradication of inconvenient diseases, that had been with us for hundreds of years, so they can push their vaccines on us for higher profits. Remember, it was the early 90s before everyone was required to get all the vaccines currently being pushed on us, without proof of the great need for them. Since then autism has exploded. They will also tell you that there’ s no mercury in vaccines any more. The CDC itself reports that most vaccines still have some (3mcg)thimerosal, but not as much as prior to 2001. Gotta go now, but please do your research.
