How to Write a Scholarship Letter; Sample Scholarship Letter Template

Writing a scholarship letter can be tough; it can be hard to talk about yourself in a way that feels like bragging. However, a great scholarship letter can win you money that can put you through college; here are some sample scholarship letter topics.

Instructions

1

Introduce yourself
Don’t be wordy, but do be personable in a scholarship letter. Let your voice come through, but stay on topic.

2

Talk about the things you have done that you are proud of
Do you play sports? Do you balance school work with an after school job? Have you volunteered in the community or made grand strides in improving your grades? These are great example scholarship letter topics to bring up.

3

Detail academic achievements
Your recognitions, GPA, academic awards, academic papers, and the like are a great scholarship letter sample topic. This is an easy place to boast yourself up, if applicable.

4

Explain what you will use the scholarship money for
What are you going to study in college? Why are you going to study that particular subject? What are your long term goals and why do you need their scholarship money to get there? If you are a great candidate for the money for college, the scholarship letter is a great place to try and convey that message to the people who decides who takes home the tuition money.

5

Ask a friend or two (or three) to proofread
You want a scholarship committee to know you put effort into a scholarship letter, so make sure you are free of typos and that your letter conveys the message you want it to by asking a few friends to proofread.

Question by theunionscar: What are some good scholarships for undergraduate university?
I’m looking for some scholarships for undergrad universities. I’m not a senior yet – I’m a junior – but I want to be ahead of the game. I’m a female with Filipino heritage , so obviously I can be qualified for some minority scholarships. I want to major in architecture or art.
I remember doing a scholarship where you make a children’s book and it has some moral to it. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? I forgot what scholarship that was.
Thanks so much everyone!

Nothing against you, but why are students not going to their guidance counselors? Asking for financial advice on this website is like putting a target on your wallet. Please see your guidance counselor, school librarian or local librarian for this type of information.
