i’m still in my first year of high school, and i was planning on getting a job in criminal justice. I saw criminal and police science on a list on a website. what exactly is it? they identified criminal science as criminalistics

I think they are referring to several different fields of study. There are multiple names for the same things, but essentially I think you are referring to these fields:
Criminology – a social science study of crime and it’s causes, patterns and effects, in the broad picture of society. This is usually a college degree of study (usually progresses to a PhD). Most work they do is consultation, analysis and teaching.
Forensic Science – This is broad and can refer to many careers, but involves scientific analysis of crimes to find the perpetrator, and to obtain a conviction using physical evidence. This includes ballistics (study of bullets), human anatomy, DNA, toxicology, and other fields of science as applied to criminal justice.
